A POSTER OF ENKA SINGERS

ENKA means Japanese ballad.
it really matches with this deep atmosphere of local tokyo scene
in Nishiarai Daishi.
here is another face of our huge capital.
the second photo is taken at the rice-cracker shop.
Men in the back keep on baking pieces of crackers in
increadible heat wave of July.

AND THE WORLD BELOW

TWILIGHT

All the driven, hurried Tokio lives and people seems to be
just a microcosmic diorama from here.

TOY PISTOL from CHINA

" I have been living around here in prewar times and postwar periods.
All my sisters including me went to private girls' high shcool.
I didn't know whether I would want to go there, but my mother decided.
There we had native English teachers, those we'd rarely seen at that time."
Then she began to tell some words in English.
She said she's nearly 90 years-old now.
"We never forget things which we have learnt in early life, you see?"

"Once and now, boys have always liked pistols and sword battles.
Today's toy pistols are all made in China. Really.
But nowadays I seldom see children around here."
